31/3/23 18:10Oh hi, IT'S YELLOWJACKETS TIME again. :D
Spoilers for episode 2x02 - Edible Complex. Content note: cannibalism.
➽ SNACKIE.
➽ But really though, this scene was amazingly filmed. I was already in awe of the imagery of Travis seeing Lottie when he has sex with Natalie (the light! the weird cuts and framing!), and then the cannibalism scene was next, and even more gorgeously done.
➽ Loving the 'pot meet kettle' parallels happening in this episode.
Taissa to Shauna: 'you're doing creepy shit in secret'
Also Taissa: *does creepy shit in secret*
Lottie to Travis: 'you're not actually seeing things, you're just traumatized'
Also Lottie: *sees things because she's traumatized*
➽ How full of shit is Lottie anyway? Because I adore her, in this season possibly even more than in the last one (and that was already a lot), and I want to believe her but I'm strongly suspecting that it's a bad idea. xD
➽ I'm pleased with how much screentime Callie has been getting this season!
➽ I keep flip-flopping between 'Javi is 100000% alive' and 'Javi is 100000% dead', and I'm aware that that's the point, and the show is very successful at making me flip-flop. (I loved that someone on reddit said Nat and Lottie are having a Jack and Locke 'man of science, man of faith' dynamic going on!)
➽ Wtf did adult Natalie see when she was falling asleep?
➽ Both episode titles so far have been A+++ witty and hilarious.
➽ Also I forgot to say this in my previous reaction post, but damn I LOVED THE OPENING SONG in the first episode. (As in, the one that played during the first scene, Seventeen by Sharon Van Etten, but I've also always been 100% in love with the actual intro song and I'm happy they kept it for S2. ♡♡♡ Also both songs fit so perfectly together because of the 'same as you' and 'now you're just like me' parallel.)

1/4/23 03:40 (UTC)Just watched E2 and LOVED it!
I like Lottie but she's also nuts and traumatized. I think she drugged Nat somehow and that's why Nat saw what she saw in whatever vision that was.
Nat faking Travis out to think Javi is dead... SHADY! I think Javi is alive somewhere.
Both opening songs have been fantastic.
Also the whole cannibalism scene was SO WELL DONE!

1/4/23 10:04 (UTC)2 things I’m loving about this show:
I thought that adult!Lottie was going to be the big baddie and while she certainly has antagonistic vibes I see that the writers are spending time in developing her trauma first, almost to the point that yes… I too want to believe her, even if I’m sure that Travis’s death was more complicated.
that characters keep doing very questionable stuff for “the greater good” (the whole Nat faking out Javi’s death… eh) I like that everyone is pretty grey-ish morally.
What a great feast anyway. SNACKIE, lol.
I’m not very deep into theories (yet), but I’m looking forward to the whole hallucinations stuff, if there’s something more to it than PTSD. (This is always tricky: sometimes PTSD is better narratively)
