The most recent episode of The Last of Us - what I loved about it and other random thoughts! SPOILERS for episode 1x07 - Left Behind.
♡ ELLIE'S FLASHBAAAAACK. I'm a simple person - give me a flashback of a girl child/teen character and I'm going to instantly love it, no questions asked. :D
♡ Allll the JOY and dorkiness. :D Especially the escalator scene, I think it's now my second favorite TLOU scene, after the hotel one! ♡ And yes, I forgive it for playing Take On Me. xD After what happened on The Magicians when this song was involved, I was actually dreading it here? (It was obvious it would play at some point as soon as they showed the A-ha cassette.) But it played in the cutest scene ever, so I'm good. :D
♡ They don't know what screenshots are, my precious bbs! ♡
♡ The whole "we're on two completely opposite sidespolitically in a war, and it really, really doesn't actually matter" thing is beautiful!
♡ The "back in 5 min" sign was the hardest-hitting 'the apocalypse happened really damn fast' scene for me, other than the entire Sarah storyline.
♡ The TITLE of this episode, Left Behind, is a rollercoaster! I know it's directly borrowed from the game, or at least that's how I understood it from reading some random article? But hoooly crap, so first you go "Joel is leaving Ellie behind because he dies" (which I knew wasn't happening but it's kind of where you start the episode), then "she is leaving him behind because he told her to", then "Ellie's friend left her behind, I assume by dying? oh, nope, she's back", then "Riley is leaving again, oh, but Ellie is leaving her first, oh, nope, she isn't" and then... "OH FUCK".
♡ Also this song (Wonders by Michael Patrick Kelly feat. Rakim) fits this episode so well that it's probably a bit TOO on the nose, which is why it was so easy for me to see this connection immediately. xD (If anyone wants to snag this idea and make a vid, you have my blessing 100%! :D I'm not in any way planning to make it myself.)
♡ Oh, and obviously it's awesome to see Storm Reid (Gia from Euphoria), but I've known for a few weeks that she was cast, so it wasn't a surprise the way the other familiar faces in previous episodes were. :D
